Another week ... another faction! October 22nd will be here before you know
it. Have you made your plans for the day
yet? Have you picked out what you are
going to wear? Or ... have you decided
what faction you belong with? Not sure
yet? Well, this post may help you
decide! Today, we are focusing on
Erudite.
Members of the Erudite faction are smart and they know
it. Erudite is the most intelligent of
the Divergent Factions and thus are poised to best lead the other groups.
What kind of books would they be reading? Here are some from our list:
These novels contain themes that will resonate with the
Erudite faction in Divergent: intelligence, scientific inquiry, discipline, and
rigorous study.
Keep reading and you can find out more about these
books! Here's a look:
Delirium
Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether
the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient.
It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria
hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love
drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both
when you have it and when you don't.
Olivia Twisted
Olivia
He tilts my chin up so my eyes meet his, his thumb brushing
lightly across my lips. I close my eyes. I know Z is trouble. I know that being
with him is going to get me into trouble. I don’t care.
At least at this moment, I don’t care.
Tossed from foster home to foster home, Olivia’s seen a lot
in her sixteen years. She’s hardened, sure, though mostly just wants to fly
under the radar until graduation. But her natural ability with computers
catches the eye of Z, a mysterious guy at her new school. Soon, Z has brought
Liv into his team of hacker elite—break into a few bank accounts, and voila, he
drives a motorcycle. Follow his lead, and Olivia might even be able to escape
from her oppressive foster parents. As Olivia and Z grow closer, though, so
does the watchful eye of Bill Sykes, Z’s boss. And he’s got bigger plans for
Liv.
Z
I can picture Liv’s face: wide-eyed, trusting. Her smooth
lips that taste like strawberry Fanta.
It was just a kiss. That’s all. She’s just like any other
girl.
Except that she’s not.
Thanks to Z, Olivia’s about to get twisted.
Possession
Vi knows the Rule: Girls don't walk with boys, and they
never even think about kissing them. But no one makes Vi want to break the
Rules more than Zenn...and since the Thinkers have chosen him as Vi's future
match, how much trouble can one kiss cause? The Thinkers may have brainwashed
the rest of the population, but Vi is determined to think for herself.
But the Thinkers are unusually persuasive, and they're set
on convincing Vi to become one of them...starting by brainwashing Zenn. Vi
can't leave Zenn in the Thinkers' hands, but she's wary of joining the
rebellion, especially since that means teaming up with Jag. Jag is egotistical,
charismatic, and dangerous--everything Zenn's not. Vi can't quite trust Jag and
can't quite resist him, but she also can't give up on Zenn.
This is a game of control or be controlled. And Vi has no
choice but to play.
Project Paper
Dolls - The Rules
1. Never trust anyone.
2. Remember they are always searching.
3. Don’t get involved.
4. Keep your head down.
5. Don’t fall in love.
Five simple rules. Ariane Tucker has followed them since the
night she escaped from the genetics lab where she was created, the result of
combining human and extraterrestrial DNA. Ariane’s survival—and that of her
adoptive father—depends on her ability to blend in among the full-blooded
humans in a small Wisconsin town, to hide in plain sight at her high school
from those who seek to recover their lost (and expensive) “project.”
But when a cruel prank at school goes awry, it puts her in
the path of Zane Bradshaw, the police chief’s son and someone who sees too
much. Someone who really sees her. After years of trying to be invisible,
Ariane finds the attention frightening—and utterly intoxicating. Suddenly,
nothing is simple anymore, especially not the rules.
Starters
Her world is changed forever.
Callie lost her parents when the Spore Wars wiped out
everyone between the ages of twenty and sixty. She and her little brother,
Tyler, go on the run, living as squatters with their friend Michael and
fighting off renegades who would kill them for a cookie. Callie's only hope is
Prime Destinations, a disturbing place in Beverly Hills run by a mysterious
figure known as the Old Man.
He hires teens to rent their bodies to Enders—seniors who
want to be young again. Callie, desperate for the money that will keep her,
Tyler, and Michael alive, agrees to be a donor. But the neurochip they place in
Callie's head malfunctions and she wakes up in the life of her renter, living
in her mansion, driving her cars, and going out with a senator's grandson. It
feels almost like a fairy tale, until Callie discovers that her renter intends
to do more than party—and that Prime Destinations' plans are more evil than
Callie could ever have imagined.
The Program
In Sloane’s world, true feelings are forbidden, teen suicide
is an epidemic, and the only solution is The Program.
Sloane knows better than to cry in front of anyone. With
suicide now an international epidemic, one outburst could land her in The
Program, the only proven course of treatment. Sloane’s parents have already
lost one child; Sloane knows they’ll do anything to keep her alive. She also
knows that everyone who’s been through The Program returns as a blank slate.
Because their depression is gone—but so are their memories.
Under constant surveillance at home and at school, Sloane
puts on a brave face and keeps her feelings buried as deep as she can. The only
person Sloane can be herself with is James. He’s promised to keep them both
safe and out of treatment, and Sloane knows their love is strong enough to
withstand anything. But despite the promises they made to each other, it’s
getting harder to hide the truth. They are both growing weaker. Depression is
setting in. And The Program is coming for them.
